Foundations for installing saunas

Installation options
The main task of any foundation is to raise the barrel from the ground so that its wooden legs, treated with an indelible antiseptic, do not absorb moisture and last for a long time. If the sauna is installed on the right foundation, it is protected from possible distortions, which in turn leads to loose doors and heat loss.
There are many options for the foundation. Here are the most common:
  • The most advantageous option is to install a bath barrel on a beam with a cross section of 150 / 100 mm (the beam can be purchased from us) and a length equal to the length of the bath. In this option, it is necessary to level the place for the sauna to an ideal state in terms of level. Lay a waterproofing material between the beam and the floor that does not allow moisture to pass through. It is necessary to replace wood every 5-10 years when it becomes unusable.
  • A fairly simple option is to install a bath barrel with a beam on large-format paving slabs measuring at least 40 / 40 cm. along the entire length of the bath. The tile is laid in advance on a specially prepared surface: the top layer of soil is removed to dense soil, a sand pillow is poured, tamped and poured with water, gravel is laid on it, and only after that – paving slabs. We recommend that you invite specialists for preparatory work so that the earthworks are carried out with high quality.
  • Installation on a landing completely lined with paving slabs. Here it is also important to observe the correctness of the technology for its laying, take into account the possibility of water drainage and take into account the possibility of seasonal swelling of the soil and changes in the geometry of the site. Also, be prepared for the fact that in winter the tiles are covered with frost and can cause injury.
  • Installation on foundation blocks. This method also requires preliminary preparation of the site (removal of the top layer of soil, sand cushion and gravel). The main disadvantage of this method is the unaesthetic appearance of the blocks themselves.
  • And finally, the method that we recommend to our customers is the installation of saunas on galvanized multi-turn piles. This type of foundation allows you to install a sauna in almost any soil, does not require complex and expensive earthworks, does not threaten your lawn and landscape design, and does not require leveling the site. Piles are durable and reliable, do not require replacement for a long time, they are screwed with special equipment to a depth below freezing, which ensures the stability and reliability of the entire structure.
As you can see, there are many options! But our experts will be happy to advise you and help you choose the best foundation option that suits you! After all, we ourselves are interested in the fact that our saunas are installed correctly, serve as long as possible and bring you and your loved ones only joy and health!
